Krishnananda Bhattacharya was born in West Bengal, India. He spent his education in an ashram in Vrindavan – a holy city near Agra. There he studied the sacred texts of the Vedas, learned Sanskrit, Bengali and Hindi, as well as the performance of yajña (fire ceremonies), puja (worship) and kirtana/bhajanas (devotional music). He belongs to a Vaishnava tradition of aristocratic Brahmanas in which the worship of Krishna has always played a central role.
Krishnananda now lives in Switzerland and is active in Vedic ceremonies and spiritual music both for Hindus and Western people.

Krishnananda Bhattacharya ist in Westbengalen, Indien, geboren. Seine Ausbildung verbrachte er in einem Ashram in Vrindavan – einer heiligen Stadt bei Agra. Dort studierte er die heiligen Texte der Veden, lernte Sanskrit, Bengali und Hindi, sowie das Offerieren von Yajña (Feuerzeremonien), Puja (Anbetung) und Kirtana/Bhajanas (Andachtsmusik). Er gehört zu einer Vaishnava-Tradition der aristokratischen Brahmanen, bei der die Verehrung von Krishna seit jeher eine zentrale Rolle spielt.
Krishnananda lebt heute in der Schweiz und ist in vedischen Zeremonien und spiritueller Musik für Hindus als auch für westliche Menschen tätig.
